I was born the same day the Tacoma Narrow’s Bridge collapsed. It was stormy! My mom was a labor & delivery nurse and already had 3 kids. I cam 6 years after her 3rd baby and was the only natural/unmedicated birth (which she likes to remind me of because it was a good experience for her). I was 9 lb 4 oz and steadily grew off of breastmilk for almost 2 years. My mom’s friend had a c-section (big deal in 1979) and couldn’t nurse her baby for a few days while she recovered, so my mom breastfed her too!
I also have 4 kids, with one late arrival, and my last one is also the only one I birthed without medication – and am very proud of that birth as well!
