Why Your Story Matters
Your voice is powerful and essential. By sharing your experience, you help build a more informed and empathetic understanding of reproductive health. This platform is for all bodies and all genders and aims to bring your stories, common and uncommon, into the light for others to witness. If it’s about reproductive health, your story belongs here and is a valuable and important contribution to this collection of experiences.
ABOUT HRS
HUMAN REPRODUCTIVE STORIES is a comprehensive database of anonymous true stories about the reproductive system from & for all bodies. It is an inclusive place for all people to help create an archive of stories about reproductive system experiences free of comments, medical advice or advertisements. Everybody was born, so everybody has at least one reproductive story to tell. We have so much to learn from each other. Let’s do this together.
Telling our reproductive stories is an issue of real, physical health and safety, with lack of research resulting in complications and deaths every year. In the U.S. alone, 80% of pregnancy related deaths are preventable, and Black women account for a vastly disproportionate number of those deaths compared to white women. Not to mention forced sterilizations, family separation, and a million other topics in dire need of awareness and action. The disparity in attention paid to women’s reproductive health versus men’s puts the responsibility on women and deprives men of having a whole relationship with their health, their relationships and even their politics. All genders deserve a welcoming space to tell their stories and to learn from one another.
HRS is supported by generous grants from the Regional Arts & Culture Council and the Godmother LLC, and from individuals like you.
Every donation to Human Reproductive Stories is 100% tax-deductible through our fiscal sponsor PAM CUT, part of the Portland Art Museum. Your donations help us provide this service to you and everyone you know, so thank you for helping us keep it going!
